Nurturing a sense of wonder and learning in French and English

rich environments. rich friendships. rich learning.
It all starts with a loving community, learning how to be a good friend, and fresh air to breathe and move in.
The pedagogy is research driven, child centred, inquiry-based, and focuses on the whole child’s development.
Children enjoy an outdoor educational program that offers learning through play, song, and activities.
Who are you?
You are a family with some members who are five years and younger looking for the perfect blend of opportunity for children to build friendships, develop school readiness, find health, happiness, and community while being immersed in a bilingual program that is outdoors and educational. You are an active family who loves to splash in puddles, get sandy, walk and smell flowers, and never misses a chance to make snow angels.
Where are we?
We are based in the Kitsilano community. We meet at the same address each morning. We spend our day outdoors visiting various gem spots nearby – from the shoreline, to various parks, playgrounds, and gardens. We have daily routines for social skills, literacy, math, the arts and always leave room for the unexpected for us to explore!
A bit about Britts

Vive l’Enfance was founded by Britts, a bilingual BC certified teacher, who has dedicated her career to early years development and education. Her son Oliver was the final push of motivation to start Vive l’Enfance. Britts received her Masters in Child Study and Education from the University of Toronto. While at the university’s lab school she specialized in teaching French as a Second Language (FSL) and early literacy development. She has worked in her field for both private and public schools, including Montessori schools. Some of her work in educational non-profit sector brought FSL support to children and families across Canada. Before becoming a certified teacher, Britts worked as an ABA therapist with children diagnosed with ASD. Britts is passionate about the impact that the early years friendships and experiences have on lifelong learning in both personal and academic development. She believes it all starts with belonging to a community thats is loving, inclusive, compassionate, and safe.
Britts works closely with community partners, fully licensed ECEs and other certified teachers, to bring fresh ideas, extra love and support, and additional dedication + inspiration into the program.
“I should ask that a gift to each child in the world be a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life, as an unfailing antidote against the boredom and disenchantments of later years, the sterile preoccupation with things that are artificial, the alienation from the source of our strength… If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement, and mystery of the world we live in. ”
